Test Shots

Above shows our singers costume.

Planning: Animatic

Social Media

We have made accounts on Instagram and Twitter to keep our followers updated. We update regularly so that our followers/fans are updated with all the recent and latest news.  The reason why we have created these social media accounts is because we have found out that our target audience who are aged 16-25 are frequent users of these types of social media.

Vlog: First day of filming

Storyboard

This storyboard shows our plan for our music video. Our storyboard is well planned we have drawn our images according to the shot types. For example, in the first scene, the shot type is at a high angle. This is just a rough copy of our plan for our music video, the drawings may be hard to understand for others who are viewing it but we understand what we will be doing and what shots and angles we will be filming at.

Planning: Examine the website for original artist

On Eliza Doolittle's official website, the first thing that comes up it a link to iTunes to purchase her new album. This is good because it gives fans the chance to have a preview of the album and know when it's out.

Throughout the page we are able to see links to websites such as her Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and twitter. These social networking websites allow her fans to communicate with her and support her. They also allow her fans to be easily informed on any upcoming projects/songs she is working on, and it simply lets her fans to see what she's getting up to.

Also, on the site is has a link to the youtube showing off her latest video.

We have taken inspiration from the website because I think that it's a good idea to have a very simple website that makes it easy for fans to navigate around. Also, it quite clearly displays the links to all the artists social networking sites which makes it easy to interact with them.

Research: Analysis of Costume, Setting and Location

In music videos, there are three main things that people notice and that is the location, setting and costume. In a lot of music videos you will notice that the artists costume matches the location and the setting. Here is a video from Keke Palmer called "Dance Alone" which shows this:

The setting of this video seems to be in an urban underground place where there is a party. The outfit that is being worn by Keke Palmer is a belly top with a tracksuit trousers and trainers. The outfit fits the location because she fits into the place and her surrounding.

Planning For Music Video: Analysis of 3 Music Videos

The three music videos that have influenced me for our music video are:
  • Keyshia Cole - Trust And Believe
  • Chris Brown - Don't Wake Me Up
  • Wretch 32 ft. Example - Unorthodox
What inspired me from Keyshia Cole's music video is the story line in the video and the shots that were used to show Keyshia facial expressions while singing and how she felt about her boyfriend cheating on her. The story line in the video will be slightly similar to our music video because both of the videos is about the main girl/artist who has a boyfriend and the boyfriend cheats on her. The shots that I really like were the close ups and the extreme close ups of Keyshia's face.

The bit that I really liked from Chris Brown's video "Don't Wake Me Up" is the ending bit where it shows the audience that Chris Brown and the girl has woken up from a dream. I really liked this because in the ending of our video is meant to show the girl waking up from a dream and Chris Brown's video gave me a idea of how we could show someone waking from a dream.

With the Wretch 32 video there is a part where a group of people are riding bikes. When you look at where they are riding, you notice that the capture the popular places in London such as London Bridge and Tower Bridge. We will be doing something very similar to this where we will capture popular places in London like the London Eye, Tower Bridge and Westminster.

Planning: Audience task

This is Rebecca. She is a 17 year old girl living in London. Rebecca is a big fan of Eliza Doolittle's style and music, and she has purchased all of her albums. She spends the majority of her time either; at college, with friends, or at home on social networking sites. She is also a budding musician who plays the guitar and sings, and hopes to be as successful as Eliza some day. She is such an inspiration for Rebecca because she loves Eliza's modest style and the lyrical content of her songs.

Rebecca has recently gone through a break up with her boyfriend. She's writing a song about her feelings, but she doesn't quite know how to explain what she feels. 'The hype' appeals to Rebecca because it puts her feelings into context and she can relate to it because te artist is singing about the exact same thing she feels.

Research: Brand image

The brand image for our artist will be the thing that people will be able to identify our atsit by. For this we have chosen to go with red lipstick. The reason for this is because we thought it would be something easy to maintain throughout the video and the digipack.

Also, we got the idea from the 'Rude boy' video to put this effect into our video. We thought that it would work well as our brand image is centred around the lip colour and this explores different lip colours & gives is a chance to be creative.

Reflection on progress

I don't feel that I am progressing  with my blogging. I feel that I am not working as hard as I did in the AS year. However I realise it requires much more time and effort. I would give myself a 6/20 for level of detail and a 8/20 for my use of ICT.

Overall, I think I need to improve these 3 things in order to make my blogging more successful;

Spend more time blogging and try not to get it all done at once.

Try much harder to meet the set deadlines.

Use different forms of ICT to make my blog look more interesting.

Research: Skills audit

My research skills have developed from AS. I have improved these skills by leaning to use different ways to find out information & I also am learning to add more types of media into my blogs. e.g prezi, go animate, slideshare.

Planning: Analysis of original video

The song that we have chosen to re-make a video for is 'Eliza Doolittle - The hype'. The reason for this decision is because we thought that it was a genre of music that not many students have explored in the past and it would be nice to try something different. Another reason as to why we chose this is because it doesn't have an official music video. This is good because it allows us to explore different ideas and leaves more room for creativity.

The video will be based around the idea of a break up and relationships. I think that the song will be popular amongst our target age group because most girls that age will be able to understand an possibly relate to the lyrics of the song.

Our video will differ to the original video, this is because in the original video the girl has really been cheated on and is is made obvious. However, in our remake Jaleesa dreams that she is being cheated on.

First day of filming

Tomorrow is our first day of filming for our music video (23/10/2013). We have planned our evening carefully and safely. Erica and Attilla collected the equipment together today (22/10/13) and traveled safely to their homes. We will be meeting at Piccadilly Circus at 6:30pm and we will film our required scenes around that area making our way to other locations once we have filmed our scenes at Piccadilly Circus. We are aware that the locations we are visiting are extremely busy and we are in full responsibility of all equipment we have borrowed from the college. As part of planning ahead, we have checked the forecast for tomorrow and the weather conditions are suitable for filming. The forecast says tomorrow evening will have clear skies but we will be carrying an umbrella just in case it rains. Will we be tweeting and uploading photos to our instagram accounts to inform our audiences of the making of The Hype!

Examine the website for Eliza Doolittle

The main purpose of creating a social networking site is to build social networks or social relations among people who, for example, share interests, activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections.

Eliza Doolittle has a Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, MySpace and Sound-cloud account to promote herself and songs.
On http://www.elizadoolittle.com/splash.php Eliza Doolittle has all her links to her social networking on her official website so her fans can keep up to date with the latest news.
Before you enter the site, there is an advertisement of Eliza's current album "In your hands". You have the opportunity to buy the album or to enter her website.
Eliza's website also has a news/blog where she uploads her latest activities such as new videos, shows and photos.

We have been influenced by the way Eliza Doolittle has used social media to promote herself and her music. As Eliza Doolittle did, we have created an Instagram and Twitter account to promote the music video we are making. We will post regularly and frequently so everyone can see what we are up to.
