As a group, we have looked at several music videos to help influence our ideas for the making of ours. We were searching for editing, camera work and the use of mise-en-scene in a variety of music videos. We have been influenced from the music videos of:
- Rihanna- Stay
- Keyshia Cole- Trust And Believe
- Rihanna- Whats my name
Rihanna- Stay
In the video Stay by Rihanna, there was a range of use within mise-en-scene. I have identified that the location/setting of the music video is very effective as it matches the 'mood' of the song. Rihanna Stay is a song about a break up and she is portraying her sadness and depression by sitting in a bath in a very dark and dull room. The artist isn't wearing any costumes or makeup as she is in the bath which suggests she is careless as she has experienced a bad break up. We have thought of this idea and we want to adapt this onto our music video by having some shots in dark areas.

The use of camera work in Stay has influenced our ideas. I have noticed that the camera often zooms into Rihanna's face. I think the camera does this to show her emotions and feelings. It is very clear that Rihanna wants everyone to know she is heartbroken and upset as her facial expressions show this. I have taken the idea to use the use of camera work in our video as we're going to do mid close up shots which zooms into a close up shot to portray our lead singers emotions.

Keyshia Cole- Trust And Believe
In the music video Trust and Believe by Keyshia Cole, the use of editing has been used. Jump cuts has been used at the start of the video from 7 seconds to 17 seconds. The camera shots within 7seconds to 17 seconds of the video shows very fast shots of flashbacks. I was influenced by the fast paced editing and the flashbacks in Keyshia's video and I will take this idea and do this in our music video as it will go with the song Eliza Doolittle- The Hype is very upbeat and fast.
Rihanna- Whats my name
The use of mise-en-scene has influenced my ideas. This is through the use of location/setting in the music video of Rihanna- Whats my name. Most of the scenes in the video are set in the city, on the streets and in a house. We are going to use the idea of doing scenes in the city and streets because we want to our viewers to have a feel from where we are from.
